As women get older, their risk for breast cancer increases. Most breast cancers are found in women over the age of fifty. Early detection of breast cancer can have a tremendous impact on a patient’s ability to effectively treat the disease. Monthly self-exams and yearly breast exams by your doctor are sufficient until the age of forty, at which point a woman should get mammograms every one to two years. If there’s a family history of breast cancer, tell your doctor, as he or she may suggest getting mammograms earlier. When was your last Breast Cancer Screening?
